Freight Supplier frequently-asked questions

  1. Do I have to register to be a supplier?
Yes. All suppliers must register so that we can keep you informed and track your bids. You must have a current Transport Service License.
  2. Do I have to have a Transport Service Licence?
Yes, definitely. Freightbid is part of the Land Transport NZ chain of responsibility. We take our responsibility to the industry seriously. Before you can place offers, you must tell us your TSLN and we will verify it with LTNZ. Verification could take up to three working days.
  3. What is a Freight Supplier agent?
An agent is a supplier’s representative who assumes the role of administering offers for your company or depot. If you become an agent you can register other users within your company.
  4. What is a job?
A job is listed by a customer who wants to obtain quotes or "bids" to move their freight. As a registered Freight Supplier you will be notified by email when a job is listed meeting your freight carrying criteria.
  5. What is the purpose of selecting a freight category when I register?
When you register as a supplier you will be prompted to select freight carrying categories. When a customer lists their freight they will choose a suitable category that broadly describes their freight. You will only receive bid requests for freight categories for which you register.
  6. What is an offer?
This is the price the supplier offers to complete the freight job. When a supplier places an offer it is binding upon acceptance by the customer. The customer can accept the offer at anytime. Other suppliers cannot see your offer.
  7. Who can see my offer?
Only the customer who made the job. Your offer cannot be seen by other FS and it cannot be seen by other customers.
  8. When my offer wins, what happens next?
You will be notified that your offer has been accepted by the customer. At this time the Freightbid system will send the contact details of the customer to you to make arrangements to complete the job. If you do not contact the customer, the customer may request your contact details from Freightbid to complete the freight job.
